A friend recently bought a box of floppies but didn't notice that they were formatted for a Mac. He asked if these floppies could be used on a PC or did they have to be reformatted on a PC before they could be used on a PC?
So the question is this: is a Mac formatted floppy useable on a PC at all or can it be made useable by reformatting on a PC. I am not a Mac user and know nothing about Mac machines so maybe someone has had this experience.
Thanks for any info on this topic,
Jerry D.

Format one of the floppies on your PC using the 'Full Format' option, and then see if you can make a Windows boot floppy with it in Add/Remove Programs.
If not, then it has to be formatted on a Mac system.

Hola,

a MAC formatted floppy cannot be read by a PC (unless it uses a Hardware interface such as the CatWeasel) but they can be reformatted...

as far as I know there is only one Computer still out there that can read floppies from PC's, Mac's, and afew others without a prob... *:) the good ole AMIGA...
