Hi,

I have a user who's voicemail is setup in Meridian Mail, but for some reason his calls get routed to another voicemail box. I don't know what voicemail box it's being routed to. How do I find out where the call is being routed to? This is an Option 11C system with Meridian Mail.

I did a prt of his extension and it looks just the other extensions that are working fine.

Thanks,
Ed

You need to look at voicemail system itself as there may be a voicemail box that has that extension listed as a secondary extension. You may have to look at ever box, but I would have a tendancy to look at mailboxes with primary extensions that "rhym", meaning they are similar. Say you problem extension is 6155, then look at mailboxes that are 7155 or 5155 etc....

If you call his number and wait until you are forwarded (or activate CFW to th VM AC) to the VM system, you should be able to identify the mailbox number via the standard greeting or via the recorded greeting.

Thanks for the quick replies. I did call it, but the issue is I'm not familiar with the greeting. We also have a lot of voicemail boxes so it's not going to be fun to go through all of them. Is there any other way to id which mailbox it's going to? Otherwise, I may just give him another extension. Thanks.

If not personalised greeting is recorded the system annonces the extension number.

If a personal greeting is recoreded the box owner should mention his name, then I would look it up in your companys tel. directory.

A personal greeting is recorded, but the box owner is no longer around. This used to be their extension, but I'm now trying to assign it to someone else.

in mermail use the find key, under users (option 1, 1) then the find key tab down to ext dn then press the list key..

Okay, I found ext 226 and it's only listed once. Could it be something else? I'm uploading the PRT of his extension.

If you did as jp suggested and didnot find it as a mailbox check to make sure it is not setup in the VSDN table as an AS or MS. Another way to test is call internally and externally. Internal calls default to MB and external calls would look in the VSDN table then for MB.

option 3 4 1, voice service dn table. those are the only two fields that act as an entry point for a dn in mermaial that i know of. if you have a as or menu, it doesn't work until you add the entry to the voice service dn table.. last option would be to call that number, leave a msg, and ask the user to call you back

Ah! I found it in the VSDN table and it's listed as MS. I don't know what this part of MerMail does, but do I need to keep this entry? I don't see other users in here. I do see entries for the Voicemail DN, Express Messaging, MEnu Service, Prompt Maint, etc...

Just delete that entry from the VSDN table. the MS is a Menu Service. You should also delete that Menu Service.

Okay, I deleted the entry from the VSDN table. Where would I delete from the Menu Service? Sorry for so many questions. This is the first time I'm dealing with part of MerMail.

Just out the box then rebuild it.

from main mermail screen do 3 then 4 then look at the screen and it will tell you what Menu Services are, I think it is 6 or 7

Thank you all very much! That solved it!
