I have a CallPilot 100 with Rel 01 software, which is stuck in a funny place.

I am able to start it up, and all of the lights flash as they should.
I am able to connect via serial cable, and I get the following output, which seems to indicate that the unit is up and running. I do not know the login name or password, and so I am stuck at that point.
I am not able to bring up the web interface (IE says 'unable to display') although I did successfully change the IP address, and I can ping the unit.
I am able to establish a telnet session, but I face the same login/password issue as above.
Attempting to reach the unit via a handset results in a "feature inactive" message, regardless of whether I try F981, F983 or F985.

I have tried all of the user/password combinations I could find out there, but none of them worked.

I have connected the unit to an 8x24 DR5, a CICS 6 and a CICS 7. The result is always the same.

What is curious is that at one point in the boot messages, it says " Got KSU Version from functerm:" followed by the KSU version I see if I log into the KSU, which tells me that it is indeed communicating with the KSU.

Looking more closely at the log, I find:

SYS: Access failed to start, system will restart after 120 seconds
SYS: To stop rebooting, enter stopreboot

which looks like a serious error message.

Following that is:

TCM 1: Channel 0: UP
CH0 is opened.
TCM 2: Channel 2: UP
CH2 is opened.

dch: channel 2 Msg Len 99 Update Board to Access

dch: channel 2 Msg Len 99 Update Board to Access
D-channel No. 2 is working
D-channel No. 1 is working

which looks like the unit has come up. Further down, I do get the "Ready" message in a box, but sure enough, after a short while the unit reboots.

1) Is there any way to gain access to the unit as is ?
2) Is there a way to reset the device, given that I cannot access it by any other method than serial cable ?

someone is advertising a card with Rel 3.1 version 31.10.37.22 multi-use.

is that what I need, is the version a known release, and is the multi-use part legit ?

what is a fair price for that card ?

Smartest thing for you to do is call a vendor in and have them do the upgrade.

They carry the software and can do it for a minimal fee plus 1 hour labour.
Pointless to purchase a card when the upgrade will convert the existing card to 3.1.
Then can also troubleshoot your issue and resolve it.

If you purchase software and does not work then what? you will need a cabinet.
Cheaper to buy both at once, after a tech verifies issue.

So, following your advice, I called ATHQ, a vendor reasonably close to me. They told me that they could sell me a refurb at $375 or a new unit at $425, but they couldn't upgrade the bootloader or the software. Neither of those choices is what I would consider a minimal fee.

Any other options ?

they couldn't upgrade the bootloader or the software"

That's not true but perhaps because they don't have techs, are they not just a supplier rather than a vendor?.

See how to upgrade:

The pricing is pretty good considering your getting a whole new unit, PS and the software.

The pricing is not so good, considering that all I wanted was a software upgrade and a working unit.

The pricing is especially not so good, considering that the product is end-of-life.

From the link, I gather that you are advising me to attempt the upgrade on my own.

If you don't think the pricing is that good then too bad for you.

I gave the link to to show that you dont need to purchase just software as this ATHQ seems to think.
Techs will have the software, they use it to upgrade and callpilots.

I am done with this/you.

I didn't mean to offend you.

I don't know a tech in this area that I can ask about the software.
