I want to call in to the system and use Feature 982 to activate non business hours and play a different greeting that has been previously recorded. I have no problem from inside the system, using my admin mailbox, but there does not seem to be an option when calling in from the outside using the Admin Mailbox. Is this possible or is it wishful thinking?

John,
Possible but you would need to use a remote access device. This is internal for the CICS and external for all others. Then you will need the Norstar remote utilities on a PC. And then you can program your voice mail from the set emulation program. If it is a NAM you are using there are other options but the above is a more comprehensive system solution.

Cheers
PhM

If using a NAM then do the following:

Initialize the system coordinators mailbox.

Feature 981,
Log: 1020000 (if using three digit DNs)

Change the password to something memorable as this will change how you get into feature 983....

Then from the remote phone, call in and get the AA when it starts playing dial ** enter 102 and whatever you changed the password to and #. Then dial 99 to access the Remote Administration menu.

Follow the voice prompts:

To open or close the business press 1
To chagne a Company greeting press 2
To exit press *

If you choose 1, the following voice prompts play
The business is closed...
To open it press 1
To exit press *

OR
The business is open....
To close it press 1
To exit press *

If you choose 2 to change a greeting.....
Press 2, enter the number of the greeting you want to change. (from 1 to 40)
Press 1 to re-record the greeting. Press # to accept your greeting.

So you can't exactly change the assigned greeting to one that you have pre-recorded but you can re-record the greeting that is already assigned. Just remember to change the recording back after returning to the office. MRoberts

Follow up - I am using a 4 port FLASH not a NAM. I have a feeling that I am not able to do it in FLASH???

Not like I described above. You would have to do as ARR/ PhM says above. Install NRU (Norstar Remote Utilities) on a PC and then call into a FastRAD (if using a MICS) or the Internal RAD on a CICS. The RADs (remote access device) acts like a modem to call in and program the system.

THEN you would be able to change the greeting to one that you have pre-recorded.

NRU is a good program for you to keep if you have a number of customers using Norstar product. This was you can make small changes like this remotely without the labor and drive time to get out on site. MRoberts
