Calling and external program from VBA

How to you call an external program from VBA. And when you do not need it anymore how do you close it? Thanks

Also, you can code an EXE, and SHELL it, while passing parameters to it.

Depends on what you mean by external, doesn't it?

Is Word an external program from within Excel, using VBA? If you have an object library for it, then you can create an instance of it. This applies to any program for which you have object libraries for, not just Office apps.

If you want to simply execute an .EXE, then use SHELL.
