Has anyone heard of caller id supporting both name and number on any software release?

Name and number are sent via the "PRI D" channel if you are using T-1 circuits, ANI also must be turned on by your carrier. I believe the protocol from the carrier also needs to be NI2 (this supports both name and number).

it is working on rls 3 with pri back to dms

Receiving name on a PRI is part of the NI-2 standard. sending name isn't controlled by the PBX.

I am running 24.24 and it does not support Caller Name. I have been talking to everyone about this and it is only available (from what I'm told) in the new 25.x version of the software..

Is name and number only available with succesion?

Is anyone currently recieving both name and number?

no, i get name only if the number is in my station speed dial on my 3900 series phone, and that only on my ld route. i checked and the co is not sending name, we didn't request it, but in school we did have names working, and between this 81 and a cisco call manager and a remote opt 11 we have name and number..again i am on rls 3, the opt 11 is on rls 25.40 and does see names. if i remember right around rls 19, i had names between switches with pri

I have no problem with names and numbers between switches. only from telephone company.

I do not think you can send your own name, but we are receiving names from the CO. Our D-Channels are configured with an RCAP of COLP using the NI2 interface type. These PRI's are connected to a 5E switch, but anytime the CO passes the name, we get it on all displays. Config works on Rel 24, 25 and 3.0.

One catch is that you have to pay for Calling Party Name Delivery, as it is an additional service. In CO is is $20 per month per T1.

We also have no issues with names between switches, and we have also seen name/number info passed to other PBX's across TIE lines.

I would ask your provider about inbound name display.

best way to check is to do a enl msgi x against the d in load 96 and enl msgo for outgoing msgs. that produces a lot of txt, but you will see the names going in and/or out. unless the co sends them in, don't waste time trying to make it work.. you can get both, just like a tie, rcap nd2 or nd3, depends on the co.. and you can send the names as entered in ld 95.. just need to get the co to agree to do their job..
