This past weekend we installed 1 Trunk group supporting 2 new PRI T1's so that a new carrier can support our local services. When dialing any other number, the caller ID (DID of the calling party) displays fine. However, when we dial a toll free number our LDN number displays instead. Any ideas?

Have you checked your "ARS Analysis" to make sure that the 1800, 1888, 1877, and 1866 are using a route pattern that uses your new trunks?

You would do a "list ars ana", and then find the route pattern. Then you would type, "change route x" The number in the "preference" field will indicate which trunk group you are using.

If it's not correct, you'll want to change those items to run the same route pattern as your local calls.

Sounds like a LEC issue to me...or perhaps in the exchange to from your LEC to your LD carrier. If it was the PBX it would (provided your using the same PRI services for local and LD) then it would be uniform.

Post any conversion from carrier to carrier their are many places they can drop the ball in billing cpn ani etc especially if you use one for local and a different carrier for ld (typical).

This is the classic example of the difference between ANI (Automatic Number Identification) and CPN (Calling Party Number. With ISDN signalling, both an ANI and a CPN are sent forward with the call. The CPN is what 'displays' the ANI is what is used for billing. The 'owner' of a 8xx number is entitled to see what they're paying for, so they typically receive ANI.

It may be possible for your LEC to transmit the CPN as if it were ANI, but that could cause other complications (for example, you would have to set up every single DID as a 'billing number' with your long distance carrier, and you may get charged additional fees as well.)
