I have an extension set up to call forward off net to an employee's home in another state. We have long distance account codes so this number was programmed in my Definity (ARS) to strip off the account code. It worked fine.

The employee has changed her home number so I inserted the new number in the ARS and removed her old number. On the actual phone set, I turned off call forwarding to the old number and then entered the call forwarding FAC and the new number. I hear 3 quick tones which tells me the call forwarding took but when I dial her extension it still forwards to the old number which is now disconnected.

Is there another place in my Definity that could be storing this old number?

What am I missing?

Kinda busy this morning but just a couple of quick questions...

You can do this with Remote Call Coverage and it will work, I do this all the time. We can talk later about the setup for that. From your previous message I understood that you got the "duplicate entry" message when you tried to add the number to the "Coverage Remote" screen, not ARS. The two don't have any relationship. But if you're not using coverage to make this work all the questions and entries about coverage don't amount to anything. So let's move on.

I still don't get what you mean by stripping off the Account Code??? If account codes are required by your system and you go off hook to make a call you have to enter something or you simply won't be able to make an ARS call. There is no lookup table. To help further on this I need more from you on how you understand what you think you're doing with respect to stripping off an account code. You won't find any place where account codes are shown, unless this is a new feature added to R11.

I'll keep tryin if you will...

Hello
When you say you have long distance account codes these are usually set up on the route pattern so make sure on the route pattern you are using for that number is not stripping off any digits or inserting any digits

Antonyn,
That's exactly what I'm looking at right now. When I changed her phone number in ARS, I left the same route pattern (p8). I was under the impression that it would work.

To test this, I put in my home phone number which is also long distance and used route pattern 8. I get a recording that the number is disconnected. I'm no expert in route patterns so I'm reading about it to see how to set up a new pattern.

Is there an easy explanation for route patterns and how to set them up?

Just found that the account code is entered in the route pattern. A separate route pattern must be set up to dial the specific 11 digit number. By adding a comma and the account code, it will allow the call off net.

So, by chosing the same route pattern, and not changing the 11 digit phone number in that route pattern, I have been forwarding to the same number.

Make sense?

Ok folks, I got it to work but I'm not sure how exactly.

In the ARS, the old number was showing route pattern p8. I looked at route pattern 8 but it didn't have any inserted digits. I wasn't sure if I was looking at the right pattern so I started looking at other patterns and came accross route pattern 14 which had her old phone number and the account code.

Instead of creating another pattern and confusing myself, I changed that pattern and inserted the new phone number and the account code.

I forwarded her extension to the new number and dialed her extension from my phone. Went through fine.

I'm not sure why the route pattern numbers are different. I guess I'll have to research it more to figure it out.

Thanks to everyone for your help and patience!!!
