Example 1
Ext. 11111 has his phone forwarded to ext 11112. (Same PBX)
Ext. 11112 does not answer the call that was forwarded from ext 11111 so the call
returns to the voice mail box of 11111. (Everybody happy and this is what we expected.)

BUT

Example 2
Ext. 11111 forwarded his phone to Ext 22222, (Remote PBX) which we have linked via DCS, and ext 22222 does not answer the call. The call then goes to the voice mailbox of ext 22222. It does not return to the voice mailbox of ext 11111. (Everybody not happy as we expected the unanswered call to end up in the voice mailbox of ext. 11111)

Before upgrading the S8700 platform, example 2 returned to the original voice mailbox of the ext. being called (11111). (Or so I thought) That is the way I remember how it worked and the user also said this is the way it worked.

Avaya Denver support says Example 2 should end up back in the voice mailbox of ext 11111. The local Avaya tech tells me the call being forwarded would always end up in the voice mailbox of the ext. number the call is being forwarded to.

Any comments on who is correct?

Check out the system-parameters coverage screen for the remote PBX. The field Coverage After Forwarding is probably set to N.

From the Administrator's Guide:

This field governs whether an unanswered forwarded call is provided coverage treatment.
Y = Coverage treatment is provided to unanswered forwarded calls.
N = No coverage treatment is provided to unanswered forwarded calls. The call remains at the forwarded-to destination.

Thanks for the Quick response Susan.

I chacked and do the Coverage after forwarding set to Y in both PBX.

When I turn it off in Austin, the call will then come back to Houston as I would like, but then the Austin people have a forwarding problem in their PBX for station to station forwarding.
Getting there.

You need to do a coverage path, not call forwarding

you're forwarding the call to another number, of course it will flow the voicemail of the station that the call was forwarded too..
