I am looking for a few tips to help setup a simple Incoming Call Distribution. All we want is to allow callers of a certain number to be able to enter the extension they want to be transfered to. It sounds simple, is it??

Thanks for your help.

Does the switch have an announcment card?

If so route the incoming trunk group to a VDN, point it towards a vector that looks like this:

1 wait time 0 secs hearing ringback
2 collect 1 digits after announcement XXXX
3 goto step 6 if digit = 1
4 route to number 0 with cov y if digit = 0
5 route to number 0 with cov y if unconditionally
6 collect 4 digits after announcement YYYY
7 route to digits with cov y
8 collect 1 digit after announcement ZZZZ
9 goto step 6 if digit = 1
10 route to number 0 with cov y if digit = 0
11 route to number 0 with cov y if unconditionally
12 stop

Assumption is you are using 4 digit locals & you have an attendant console or a dial zero location.

Announcement XXXX: Thank you for calling ABC company, if you know the extension you wish to reach, press 1 now, otherwise press 0 or remain on the line for our attendant.

Announcement YYYY: Enter the extension you are trying to reach now.

Announcement ZZZZ: I'm sorry we cannot locate that extension. To try again press 1, to reach out attendant, press 0 or remain on the line.

I think that will work perfectly. I'll give it a try this afternoon.

Thank you for your help!!
Jesse

if you don't have an announcment card, but have audix, you could also do it with an auto attendant.

OK...here's a couple of questions.

Announcement Boards / Vectoring

Why add the second & third layers and waste valuable announcement time. Try a vector like this:

01 Wait-Time 2 Sec hearing Ringback
02 announcement XXXX
03 route to 0 if digits = 0
04 Route to digits with cov y
05 route to 0 if unconditionally
06 end

I'm not in my office, but I'll test this in the morning. Don't waste your announcement board time & processor capacity with a larger than needed vector.

If you don't have vectoring, have the incoming number route to an extension (probably through DNIS). Have that extension be an X port with a coverage path leading to your audix. For that subscriber, create an auto attendant (page 2) and then on page (3) do this:

1: e transfer Extension
2: e transfer extension
3: e transfer extension
4: e transfer extension
5: e transfer extension
6: e transfer extension
7: e transfer extension
8: e transfer extension
9: e transfer extension
0: XXXX transfer operator
TO: XXXX transfer operator

XXXX = Your operator's extension (you may need to make a subscriber in the audix to make the call route correctly).

To be honest, you're probably better of using audix unless you've got an abundance of annoucement time on your switch. I've always found mine to be at a premium.

Good Luck!

sjforcum, Your top example is about what I ended up with. Thanks for everyones help.

Hey Jesse,

I just noticed one error in my vector...

You need to use a collect digits 4 after announcement XXXX for step two.

Good Luck!
