Do copied of Win NT/2K/XP workstation versions come with a CAL to access an NT server, or do they have to be purchased seperately? I'm doing a software audit here and I'm trying to figure out if I should be looking for CAL licenses or if they come with full copies of the OS (although I doubt it, just thought I'd ask). Thanks!!

Depending on how you license your server, You either pay for a per server license, allowing unlimited connections. or you pay for a per seat license. meaning you can have that number of users connected at any one time.

for example you could have 20 users, 10 at nightshift and 10 in the dayshift. you would only need 10 licenses, because you only have 10 concurent users.

the licenses that come with the client workstations are for operating that workstation alone. now. WIN2k and WINXP come with licenses for connecting to a terminal services server. you would still need the per user license.
