I've never got this error before. Seems no one else has either. I ran spybot and told it to fix items. After running it I get this error.

STOP: c0000135 {Unable To Locate Component}

This application has failed to start because baseqjq32 was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

anyone seen this one? How do I fix it. This is an xp home machine, not pro. I couldn't find a home forum... Probably because no one works on home machines.

Will your machine boot in to Safe Mode so that you can try some diagnosing, or load the Recovery Console to try some suggestions? What access do you have now? Spybot S+D has a Recovery option to allow you to "undo" your previous removals. System Restore is available from Safe Mode too.

Have a read of these.

Error message when you restart a Windows Server 2003-based computer: "Stop c0000135 {Unable to Locate DLL}"

Have a look at the program SDfix mentioned in this link.

Possible causes: S&D deleted the said file (please post correct name of file) and the (possible) malware can not start...

I don't have safe mode. I do have recovery console with cd

I ran into the same thing on a xp home computer,,,
except after the spyware program ran and reboot I get the same stop error,, looking for baseamdsu32
I had to backup registry in safemode,, load backup keys, boot up, and unhide system restore points and then restore to previous date... (I have only gotten through 1/2 of it so far,, been busy,, so I can't say definitively that the issue is resolved.)

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

The first link I posted (original post) talked about a Basexxxxx file and extracting and renaming it. See if the Expand command from the Recovery Console can help you?

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.

I just did a parallel install. Tried to find anything saying base*.* Found very little. So I just got the parallel install working well and called it a day.

When Searching for files it may be necessary in Folder Options to set the two options, to Show System files and to show Hidden files. It may also be necessary to check the Preferences in Search so that is searching for Hidden System files too.

Have you fixed up your problem in accessing Safe Mode (F8 at Boot)?
