My laptop is running Windows 2000 Professional.

In addition to folder c:\winnt\system32\
which I expect to see

I have found the folder c:\windows\system32\
which I don't expect to see on a Windows 2000 machine.

In the folder c:\windows\system32\drivers\ I found files that appear to be worms and/or trojans, as well as a very large file, mybots.log (661 MB).

Can I safely delete the c:\windows\system32\ folder?

I have since installed Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Henry

I've seen this on a few Win2k systems and they are usually installed by search toolbars like Smiley central. What does AD-Aware suggest that you do?

I've found that Ad-Aware usually gets rid of most and then you can manually delete any thing that is left.

I would also try running CWShreader, whenever i see those folders Cool fu@king websearch is usually lurking.

Yes give it a whirl I’ve been quite impressed so far I like the real-time features and it's very intuitive. It did tell me that Dameware, VNC and Netsupport we're spyware and offered to remove them which was amusing, but i understand that certain viruses use parts of these programs and i'm sure the final version will be greatly improved.
