Using W2K/SP4. The computer is up to date with all MS patches.

The user logs on and receives the following error window:

C++ runtime error - Program: C:\WINNT\explorer.exe: This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information

Error only occurs in this user's profile.

I have cleared explorer.exe out of startup programs to no avail.

Could build new profile but mitigating circumstances make this my last option.

Thanks to anyone who may have any ideas.

Try putting SP4 back on the box and re-running the patches since. Alternatively do an in-place upgrade of Windows 2000 to Windows 2000 (not recommended for the faint-hearted but keeps the profiles).

Thanks, but that did not work. I've given up and build the user a new profile.

Thanks again!
