I recently purchased a C-Lan card for the purpose of accessing my switch remotely through our LAN. The card was sent with no documentation and I'm having a hard time getting a connection. Physically, I'm coming off the back plane with a 259-connector and going into our hub with a regular cat-5 RJ45 cable. If I ping the IP address through the switch console it passes the test. If I try to ping the address through another cpu connected to the LAN, it is receiving data and the TX and RX lights are blinking on the TN799DP circuit pack. But once I try to telnet in, I get a communications error. If I try remote software administration I get a communications error. I have been to several areas in the switch: IP-interface, data-module, and node-name and set up information I gathered from different resources. Are there any white-pages or anything or anyone in particular that could point me in the right direction? Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

Hi,
You need to check ip-services (change ip-services.) In here add a SAT session and enable it, the local node is the node name of the clan add a tcp port (9002) and the remote node set to any:

change ip-services Page 1 of 3

IP SERVICES
Service Enabled Local Local Remote Remote
Type Node Port Node Port
SAT y clan-wok 9002 any 0
CDR1 clan-wok 0 CRD 9005

Trying is the first step on the road to failure

What remote software are you using and what port settings?

In the future everything will work...

for CM2.0.... set vlan to n!

I learned the hard way!

Alex.

I want to thank everyone who posted to this thread, thru all the tips and suggestions I/We finally got it working perfectly. Now my next task will be to do the same thing with my Intuity Audix voicemail system.

Thank You everyone!!!!! :)

Is the Intuity a Intuity LX and is it connected to the PBX via Lan?

Orypecos, there are 4 RJ11 type phone cables leaving the Audix system. 2 are coming from the back of the CPU, 1 coming from a CSU/DSU and one coming from some other kind of modem.

Is there a NIC installed? RJ45 on the Audix? Do you have a LX or other version?

In the future everything will work...

In the pbx, type, "display comm links" and see if there is a link entitled Audix. If so, copy and paste that line in here.

NX01, there is no NIC installed. There is no RJ45 present either.

orypecos, I have 2 links present: 1 for the C-Lan and one for the Audix

Link Enab est ext type dest dte/ name
conn num dce

1: y y 7185 BX25 7184 dte Audix

If u don't have a NIC installed then u of course will not be able to access the INtuity using clan. U are not using lan to connect the Intuity and PBx as evidenced by the bx25. U would have to install a NIC in the Intuity and then u would be able to connect. U wouldn't have to change the Intuity over to c lan connection to the pbx, but could do that if u wanted to.

OK, thanks a bunch. I will install a NIC; after hours of course :) and pray I don't run into any other issues!!

Thanks for the advice, all of it was greatly appreciated.

I have one more question. On my UNIX system, if I install a NIC card how do go about installing the drivers for it, if the system has a UNIX platform? My programming experience in UNIX is slim and none and fading fast.

I want to upgrade also, will this be a software upgrade or will we need to purchase hardware and a installation package?
