I know I am cheating a bit but I have an install coming up and don't have time to "play" with the short codes. I am going to work on some FAQs so that I am not so much of a mooch but here goes:

I need a button that will automatically dial a pre-programmed outside phone number (outside autodial)
Label: Pizza Hut :)
Action:
Action data:

I need a paging button. One where when pressed it will page a group of phones.
Label: Page zone 1
Action:
Action data:

Lastly I need a button that will allow a person who is on a call, see the caller ID info of another call that is coming into the same phone (caller ID inspect)
Label: Caller ID Inspect
Action:
Action data:

Thank you so much!

Lable: Pizza Hut
Action: Dial
Action Data: SC (e.g. *81)

create short code *81, feature=dial, telephone number = pizza hut's number, possibly with a 9 in front if the line group ID you've chosen requires it.

Label: Paging Zone one
Action: Dial Paging
Action Data: new hunt group number

create a new hunt group, add users as required.

Don't know about the last one, I think the newer phones display caller ID info directed at them even if the user is on a call... you usually get an abbreviated ring to indicate that there's an additional call coming at you.

Thanks so much. Just one more, if you please.

Hot dial or ring down

When the phone goes off hook it immediately dials either an extension or an outside line.

Any idea of how to do that?

Thank you

MRoberts

You mean this one:

· Hot-Line Dialing
A user short code ?D can be used to perform a short code action immediately the user extension goes off-hook. This is supported with Dial type short code features (except Dial Direct Hotline). Typically it is used with door, lift and lobby phones to immediately connect the phone to a number such as the operator or reception.

honey, i fried the IP Office !!!

Sarcasm, it's only one of the services I offer.

forgot to add for the paging button to make sure to set the hunt group to collective ring.

@Greybeard... won't that just ring the phones or will the PAGE come out over the speakers.

@tlpeter.... so I create a user short code for the extension like this:
*61
feature= ?D
telephone number = (then what?)

Thanks
Melissa

No you add the short code to the user and the code will be ?D

I would suggest you do 1 or more of the following

1) consult the help files in manager
2) read the documents on the document disk
3) arrange some basic training.

I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!

I concur this is a forum for professionals to obtain help and assistance, and with no disrespect to your post Melissa, not a place to come for free support from those who have invested time and money into getting trained.

I have been to training. They did not cover Short Codes in any great detail. Expecially creating special ones. They offerred just the ones that they thought were important.

I have also been to documentation (knowledge base). I also didn't find adequate information on what I am trying to accomplish.

I have been a member of this site for about 8 or 9 years (member of round table as well) and have seen people get holier than thou and do not agree with those posts. If I have the knowledge that someone else needs I do not begrudge giving them what I know. (see MICS forum for how many FAQs I have written).

Believe me, when I get this sytem down pat, I will gladly help those others who were once in my position.

Thank you for your time.

MRoberts

No offence meant. just been getting a load of really basic questions here the last few days.

no holier than thou syndrome here. Ive learnt from that mistake ;-)

Maybe I am wrong, but inferring that I am not a professional AND assuming I haven't "invested time and money" to get training seems offensive.

We'll just get off this topic, ok? Going through chemotherapy and it makes me a bit testy.

:(

sorry to hear that.... Ill be more helpful to you in the future - but genuinely no offence meant!

mroberts:

the dial paging button actually pages the phones (the voice comes out of the speakerphone). The voice via all speakerphones stops paging as soon as one person picks up, provided you are using phones which support autoanswer (24xx, 54xx, 14xx, 16xx etc).
