Hi all,
Another little pesky almost-problem: recently, when I am in a bulleted or numbered list and hit enter to get a new list item, the text is indented, but the bullet or number is not shown. As soon as I type any text, the bullet/number appears. It didn't use to be this way - what did I change? I prefer these things are visible right away.

Check under Format>Bullets and Numbering>Numbered and/or Outline Numbered tab(s) and make sure you're not set to "None."

Carrr,
Thanks for your suggestion, but no - the outline numbering scheme is set properly, and the proper numbers appear - but only after I actually start typing the item. I'd prefer the number/bullet appears when the new line is started. Am I making sense?

Yes, perfect sense...I just can't seem to recreeate the behavior. For what it's worth, what vintage of Office are you running?

OFC2000, on Win2000. That hasn't changed for over a year, yet until recently I didn't get this odd behavior. An obscure option in Word, most likely?

Rob,

Possibly. It's got me flummoxed. I'm running 97, so I'm going to go shanghai a 2000 machine and see what I can see.

I appreciate your help, and am most interested to see if you can reproduce this...
