I have a client who uses ACT! and wants to know what the bulk email rules are. So I want to find out are bulk email rules usually application specific (i.e. ACT! or Outlook) or does the rule come from the provider of the email account (the ISP) ?

Thank you,

Dawn

what do you mean "bulk email rules" please give an example. "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

PLEASE tell me you are NOT trying to ask for spamming info on this site!!!!!!!!!!!! "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

LOL, no. I have a client that sends out brochures to all her clients, (not anonymous spamming) but she wants to make sure it is not construed as spamming if she sends out 50-100 at a time. So I am trying to figure out what the general rules are on that and if it is the ISP that controls it or the application itself.

oh sorry! i hope i didn't upset you.

it would be on the ISP's side and i'm not really for sure the limits on incoming email. depending on her ISP she may not have an issue. server admins normally monitor that kind of activity so she needs to contact her ISP and make sure she wouldn't be breaking contract. you can probably take care of that through email with thier isp's support.

alot of times the mail server itself is blacklisted becuase of allowing that kind of stuff. if she's with a respectable isp she wouldn't have to worry about it.

Question: Is there an easy way to tell if your ISP has been blacklisted? We use Qwest.net and one would think they'd be OK but I'd like to know for sure.
