Hi,

We are looking to deploy an higher performamnce upgrade to the following solution that is in situ:

4 x 2610XM(30 KPPS) with NM-4E

The issue is this:

The intended Cisco 3725(100 KPPS) upgrade does not support the NM-4E nor does it have a 4-port FE(10/100) equivalent type card that plugs into the 3700. I know the NM-2FE2W-V2 module might work. Does this work in the same manner as the NM-4E, albeit the NM-2FE2W is FE of course.

if not, what is the best cost-effective way to deploy multiple FE ports on a 3700's? Also, are any FE interface cards available that allow L3 switch/routing through the 3725/3745 or do we have to start looking at the CAT 4000 family...if so, would anyone like to suggest a base FE/L3 CAT 4k config!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Kind regards, John

Hi,
if you're looking for low cost L3 switching between Ethernet ports, try the Cisco 3550 series. Comes in lots of flavours 12(Gbic) / 24 / 48 Ports and all switchable at L3.

And your not talking about thousands of pps but billions.

Cheers, Phil.

If everything is coming your way then you're in the wrong lane.
