Hi all,

could someone please show me how to build a domain on Windows 2003 server? I have windows 2003 server and I want to build a domain then cluster so I can install cluster env at home.

Please shed some light for me
thanks,
Lap

No offense, but if you're asking about building an Active Directory domain and forest, you'll never make it with a cluster. But, I admit, it must be nice to be able to afford the hardware for a cluster at home.

How do I install Active Directory on my Windows Server 2003 server?

You don't need much to create an unsupported cluster - I did it with an external SCSI drive and two adaptec 2910 controllers. But, that aside, if you're doing this to learn, then you should use Virtual Server as that will allow you to create a cluster in two virtual machines. Though you WILL need at least 1 GB of RAM for an effective demo.

Thanks lwcomputing,

my goal is just to set up so I can learn, could you please give more details of how you set up so I can follow?

thanks,

Get yourself an external SCSI hard drive. Then get two SCSI cards (Adaptec 2910's worked for me, 2940s had issues and the cluster fatally failed about an hour after I set it up. I haven't tried other cards) Then you have to change the SCSI ID on one of the cards (by default, it's probably going to be 7 on both). then you connect one cable to one computer, one to the other, and both to the external drive.

You can also use Virtual Server, as I mentioned.
