I am getting the following event in my event viewer on one of our NT 4 Server machines.

EventID: 4188
Source: SysMgmt
Type: Error
Category: None

Description: The compaq system management driver has detected that the system encountered an NT bugcheck during the previous windows NT session. The bugcheck data was: STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005,0x8017786E,0x00000000,0x00000010)

Any idea what this may be?

Check out and do a search with your event id. This is a great site for solving problems located in the event log.

I've pasted below some of their responses anyway:

1.
This event can occur if there is not enough free disk space on the system partition. Once the space problem was resolved the error disappeared.

2.
We found it reported on compaq. The problem happens when you upgrade Windows NT 4.0 with the Security Update Roll-up form July 2001. You need previously to patch the server with a SoftPack (sp12294) and then put the Security Update.
Something similar happens in relation with SP6, where you need a SoftPack too.

Hope that helps.
