BU a PST file on local laptop C: drive

Hi all - I'm needing to backup personal folders (pst file) on laptops' C: drives in my company.

Complication: when these power users have their laptops powered on and connected to the network, of course they have Outlook open. So of course Outlook has a "lock" on this pst file and Windows NT BU can't access this locked file to get a backup; it just skips it.

Any suggestions? Our preference is to not have to install a 3rd party tool on all these laptops, if possible.....

Use a login script for these users, that makes a copy of their pst to the server whenever the machines are connected.

We have a different script for the mobile guys that also triggers an AV update, forces an AV scan, and copies the users' working directory to the server. Use an echo so they know whats going on and they won't complain about the ~5 min it takes to login when onsite.

Move the data from PST to Exchange and backup Exchange. (after all, that is what it is there for).
