Browsing from PDC

I have a small NT4 domain with a PDC, BDC, Member Server and about 30 win 95/98, NT4 W/S, W2K clients.

Since the weekend I have not been able to browse to shares on other pc’s / servers through network neighbourhood on my PDC. I can see the others there, but cannot see shares beneath them, not even browsing back to the PDC itself.

Also, I cannot browse to the PDC’s shares from other pc’s / servers. I can connect by doing \\servername\share or by mapping drives.

The only thing that has happened is that the power has been off over the weekend, but everything else is as it was and is fine.

Anyone got any ideas?

Possible your servers need rebooting. Always a good thing to do after a power loss. I would also make sure your "Computer Browser" service is started (Try stop/restart the service on each server). I would first reboot your servers though. You may also want to check event viewer to see if you have any helpful events being logged.

Thanks for the response, but I’ve sorted it now. I forgot to say that I had already tried rebooting etc.

It seems the problem was a corruption in the registry with a shared printer.

I deleted the entry in the registry and rebooted, which solved the problem.
