Browser does not display the contect on http://localhost/8080

Hi
I am very new to tomcat and just installed tomcat 4.0.1 and jdk1.3.1. After starting the tomcat and the source file compiles when I write

http://localhost:8080/servlet/filename

on the browser it does not display the content.
Can anybody help me as what exactly is the problem.

Where did put your file ?

 

Have you added the servlet to your web.xml?

Right, you need to modify your web.xml file. Also make sure you have the right directory structure.
