Browser blanks on searches

IE 6 appears to be working fine until certain search engine searches are performed. Google & Excite searches don't work and display BLANK pages (browser seems to hang at this point), however WebCrawler seaches work without a hitch.
I have set security & privacy to default or lower & restored defaults under the advanced tab. Upgrade to IE6 SP1 has been performed but to no avail.
