New to working with Avaya systems, and trying to find my way around a few issues presented at a new site. One big one is how to create a bridged appearance from an Avaya extension (Aura CM 6.1) to an Ascom wireless IP phone (IP DECT Gateway). I've tried to create the bridge using the Avaya SAM, but get an error stating "Extension assigned to an object other than a station". I thought this would be an easy-ish fix, but so far I have managed to stump 2 Avaya engineers, and they are looking further into it. Just thought I'd try and see if anyone has had success with this type of setup? Thanks in advance.

If the Ascom is H323 with Avaya-ish special firmware, it might get a brdg-appr. If they're SIP, it's unlikely. The Avaya phone could have a brdg-appr of the Ascom, but bridged appearances are Avaya-specific features, which basic SIP SIMPLE devices won't support. EC500 could also be setup to simultaneously ring the Ascom when the Avaya station rings, or if you were at a more current release, multiple device access is available

MDA seems only available on Avaya endpoints, but they seem to support the Nortel 1140's in SIP - which are pretty basic and I can't imagine them having any more features than the Ascom on a CM system.

I'd try EC500 first, then maybe brdg-appr the Ascom extn to the Avaya.

Kyle you got me pointed in the right direction, thank you! I was able to follow your suggestion for using EC500 to connect a mobile phone instead. I had to educate myself a little, but your post led me to these:
and I also found this to be most helpful (starts on page 28): This works better for me, since it cuts down on the number of devices I need to carry. Thanks again.
