Breaking up large files

I've got a file I'd like to put on a CD, but it's 720MB. When I zipped it, it shrunk to 709: still too big. Is there any software or a way to break this file into two smaller files so that I can fit it on a disc?

Lots. I used to use the dos based Cutter awhile ago. Just put "file splitter free" in your favorite search engine and you'll get lots of hits.
