I just bought all the components to build my own PC.
I put everything into place but I'm having problems and I can't identify the source.

Here is the list of componients.
ASUS P4B533-V W Audio
Pentium 4 2.0Ghz
1 DIMM 512Mb
IBM Deskstar 40GB
GEFORCE4 MX440 64Mb
Liteon CDRW 40x12x48
Case 300W
Modem USR Internal

When I Turn on the PC nothing shows up on my monitor.
And I receive no POST error messeges.

The LED on the Motherboard is on. The voltage protection LED for the Video Card is OFF.

I thought it might be the Video Card, so I took out the video card and connected the monitor to the on-board card and get the same result.
The Floppy, the HDD and the CDR all receive power.

I tried removing the DIMM and I do get an audible POST messege, but still no visual.

Any suggestions ?

I have had trouble with memory before, but I have never had a complete memory failure where the screen wouldnt light up. Since that time I have been using Micron Memory from
I am not saying they are better or worse, but at least they test the memory before they sell it. They also have free shipping. So if you pay a little more sometimes it is worth avoided the hassle. Usually they ship pretty fast. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Just received some new info from the tech. After 1 day of both of us system checking my problem, it seems to be the power supply. A 300W PS is supposed to be good enough but we found that the board is not getting consistent voltage for all of its needs - EVEN THOUGH THE GREEN LIGHT IS ON. When you have the voltage problem, you can't get the system to boot right. It flakes out on you. no video, burns memory. The only way to check this out is with your fluke meter. Or just buy a quality 400W plus PS where it is not taxing itself to stay in spec when your home outlet voltage dances. I think this is the answer but I still need to burn these systems for week before I'm sure.
