brand new CICS

hello. I recently ordered a Norstar CICS (brand new in box) but haven't received it yet. I just wanted to know what is usually included in the box with a brand new CICS. I assume that it obviously includes the CICS unit (duh) as well as power cable and software card and some documentation. However, my main question is whether they ship new CICSs with the two 25 pair amphenol cables. If not, ill have to order them right away. Thanks

It all depends on who you ordered it from and what they said would be included, but the amp cables are generally not included, and they are definitely not included from Nortel.

As to the software being included; again it depends what you ordered, as it is possible to order the CICS cabinet ala carte. You would also need a line card if you plan on using CO lines. There are two different types of line cards depending on your needs. You may need more than one, depending on the number of lines.

It sounds as though you may benefit by getting a qualified vendor involved in the process to assist you with what you will need, and the installation and programming of said equipment.

Thanks. Yes I did indeed order a line card as well, 4 line CLID card should work fine for me. I was just wondering about the cables, because I would like to order those soon because I don't to receive them waaaay after I receive the unit itself (I wanna get this thing in ASAP). With regard to programming I'm fairly confident that I can tackle this, this is a very small and simple system for my home. It's going to replace the merlin legend we currently have running (due to the Norstar's ability to log calls). I've read through the norstar manuals several times and everything is very straight-forward. Thank you for the suggestions.

Are you replacing a system, or is this a new install? If your replacig a system there should be some tail cables already there.

Not with a Merlin Legend--there are no blocks, as everything terminates RJ-11 or RJ-45.
