Booting problem with my C3500XL

Hi, i bought a cisco catalyst 3524 XL EN switch second hand to go into my cisco lab however it does not seem to boot properly . Does anyone have any ideas? here is the read out:

Might be worth reseating any installed memory modules. May have come loose in transit (have had this problem a couple of times).

C3500-HBOOT-M is what scares me...is that even a valid IOS?

thats just the bootloader image running to begin with, the actual loaded image is c3500xl-c3h2s-mz.120-5.WC17.bin .

I opened it up to have a look and couldn't see any memory or any memory slots, is it built in to the board? when i put the lid back on i booted it back up again and it seems to have stopped outputting the message:

also i think C3500-HBOOT-M loads the ios and is not the actual ios.

Are you waiting long enough these ancient switches take a few minutes to boot up.

Ive given it an hour and it still hasnt moved, ive got a second one and that one boots up quite quick.

You can try to load a new IOS to it , if it doesn't work its time to trash it . Those things are like circa 1995 .
