Hi, any feedback is welcome as im just about to see if my PC can fly at this stage.
I had my computer in a small little Gateway case untill a few weeks ago when i fitted a TV card and a CD burner, now everything worked fine untill the other day i moved it all into another ATX tower. When i first moved it everything was fine on the PC untill i went to put in the Keyboard. The computer switched off and since then all is does is flash once and nothing else.I have checked all the connections and just want to know it I might have shorted out the board. On the gateway case the earth on PSU was connected to the outside on the case, and there was no brass standoffs.
Thank you

The standoffs should be at ground. And the pads where the screws hold down the M/B should be large enough on both sides to overlap the standoffs and the screwheads. You could check with a VOM for continuity of the pads to the ground from the PSU to make sure that they are intended to be grounds.
I would be more suspicious of the keyboard since the failure came when you plugged it in. You may have killed the KB or the keyboard decoding part of the M/B. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

Agree with Ed.

Oh and you should never plug in a PS2 connection with the power on, ever. I am assuming it was ps2 since you cannot boot up. USB should not have given you any problems since it is hot swappable. ggebhart@clover.net
I hope I never get too old or arrogant to learn something new!
