how do you boot to the c: prompt without a floppy nor a cd rom?

If you have a system on the C: drive you should automatically boot. If the question is how to install a system on the C: drive without CD or floppy you would have to do it using the USB port or the network. Or take the HD out and install it on a computer with a CD. Or put a CD in the computer you have.

One way would be to use a 1 Gig Flash Drive. They make IDE Flash Readers that plug right into a hard drive port. They do this type of thing for some embedded Linux products.

For some good info on this, you could try searching at
I don't know if you can get a full DOS version there, but they do have a bunch of info and downloads in regards to boot disks, and various relating items. Also, if you are wanting a free operating system to put on there, try downloading Linux on a different machine (don't know if will install via flash drive, but I would imagine you can find a way to get it to work. If you want to try Linux, just try searching the web for Linux, or go to or - a couple linux sites. There are many free placed on the web to get it. For purchasing DOS, I might would try searching on to find various online retailers.

If you had a copy of win95 laying around or knew someone who use to have it, there is a lot of DOS with that OS There is a folder on the CD labeled OLD DOS. Since win95 was basically just 16 bit DOS, it is almost equivalent to DOS 6.1. Most of the DOS files in the Windows System command folder will fit on a floppy.
