I posted a while back about my problems booting my machine. What happens is that it ALWAYS takes 2 cold boots to get the machine to start. If I shutdown or restart from windows or linux, when I turn the machine on again, my monitor will flash on, then turn off again, keyboard leds will flash, and the fans will spin. I will have to power off and on again before I'll get a POST and the system will boot. If I reboot, I'll be left with a blank screen, and still have to restart it twice before I'll get the post. Also, the reset button will just leave me with a blank screen.
My relevant hardware is
A7M266-D mainboard
2 AMD 1600+ MP processors
256M DDR ram
300W PSU
Matrox Millenium AGP vid card
what I have done so far is remove all but above hardware, and the floppy drive, and booted form several different boot disks, when I ctrl+alt+delete, I will be faced with the reboot problem.
I changed the power supply, still have the problem
tried other AGP video cards
tried PCI vid card
verified all jumpers and connections on the board
tried 1 CPU at a time in either socket (CPU0 / CPU1)
Had several technicians look at it and try all the same things, then give up
I have even had the board replaced (first one had too many problems, including a missing circuit between the board and PS2 ports, and CPU0 would not detect a processor), The original board and the replacement board both have the same reboot problem
I have sent emails to ASUS but have not received a reply. I'll be sending a FAX this weekend, and then calling them next thursday or friday if it's still not resolved.
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
