Hi

I have recently rebuilt my machine which had 2 partitions on it now only got one large one...

When system boots I still get operating sytem choice screen displaying both O/S options...

I only have one....

How can I get rid of this annoying screen?

I checked my boot.ini and removed the second line indicating that there are 2 choices... I dont wanna knacker up my system completely so any help greatly appreciated - also if something goes wrong follwing a boot.ini alteration how can I fix it..

thanks guys

You can set the timeout=0 in boot.ini , or see thread616-703720.

Or go to my computer right click select properties. go to advanced setting and slecet startup and recovery. Disable show list of OS's on startup

1101001100110101 - isn't that an XP option?

NevG - example in thread PAndersen mentioned should sort you.

You can create a boot floppy - with the files ntldr, ntdetect.com & boot.ini (like the one in the thread if just one drive/one partition) copied to formatted floppy. This will boot your 2k installation if something happens to its boot sector (like boot.ini being corrupt).

you should also be able to access it by going to the control panel. then the system icon, advanced tab, start up and recovery, click the settings tab. under system startup, click edit

1101001100110101 - misunderstanding I think - you're referring to the 'Display list of operating systems for' tickbox (XP has 2 other options - but neither has a 'disable' as such). I always just edit boot.ini, so... hopefully Nevg is sorted by now!
