Hi!

I've got two columns, A and B respectively.

Got everything nicely sorted on A, a measure field. Then I attempt to put a break onto column B, and it, as a dimension, resorts all the rows in my table! Is there a reason anyone can think of that this might be happening?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, there is a very simple answer to this, there is a hierarchy amongst the various formatting steps. Section is at the top of this level followed by Break. Sorting of data will always be applied after the effect of these two.
Anyway what is the use of having data sorted over multiple breaks? T. Blom

Well, here's the situation, got a column called Dose that I want to appear first, and would ideally want broken. I've got a column called DisplayOrder, that I would love to act as the sort, before Dose, but ideally DisplayOrder would not appear.

So if that makes sense, that is why I'd like to have the sort on display order work before the break on dose, without displayorder even having to appear. Any ideas? I've resorted to showing displayorder before dose with the smallest width possible and a white font so it cannot be seen. This allows me to sort properly it seems, but not to break Dose...

First of all, are you familiar with the hide option within a table. This allows you to hide a column from sight and still apply a sort on it.
Best option is to save a report with the option 'save for all users' and send me a copy. I'll have a better insight of dealing with your demand.......... T. Blom

Hi smooveb,

Hide option would be best in dealing such situations. Right click on the report table -> Format Table->Pivot.

Thanks to both of you - didn't realize there was a way to hide the column. So now I can achieve a sort on Display Order nicely. However, can't for the life of me figure out how to break on dose in addition to sorting and hiding display order. T. Blom I'll send you a copy, just in case you can figure it out. Thanks!
