In order to set up proper virus protection for my Network, I would like to block certain file extentions from being delivered to users. Can anyone give advice on how to go about this in NT4.0 Svr SP6, Exchange 5.5 SP4?

Thank you.

This is not possible using Exchange 5.5 only. You have to have a 3rd party product such as Norton Antivirus for MS Exchange which i use. Works great, unfortunately it doesn't handle lot of file types. For example i added 45 file types to the list and suddenly it took 4 hours to deliver a small e-mail that it should let through.

Thanks a million. Did you ever reach a comfort zone with the number of extentions you added? Or did you find another way to speed it up?

It works a little better now, added some more attachment types and it works a little better. However i spoke to Norton and they've never seen this problem. I use a dual PIII/500Mhz with 1GB RAM and lots of disk space. So performance is not the issue actually. I have like 100 users on this site.

I have installed NAV for Exchange and it's working wonderfully. Thanks again.
