Block incoming phone number

I don't know if this is possible or not.

I have a CS1000M at Rls 4.5 and CallPilot Rls 5.

I have a person from the public who is making threatening phone calls to a staff member.

Is it possible to have this person's phone number blocked from reaching this staff member?

With symposium. As soon as she gets a call from the threat have her xfer to 911 and he will stop after a few.

not without Symposium. That is why she should immediately send it to 911 center.

symposium is the only way nortel does routing based on the calling parties number... i've used the transfer 9911 rls.. the caller thinks they are still talking to the number they dialed.. instead he's connected to 911, and he can't hang up. they hold the line

johnpoole is correct, none of the Nortel call servers do this inherently. The BCM 50 has this ability, but it is actually done by terminating the call to the auto attendant application and then applying a CLID routing table.

Contact Center scripting or a the Nortel MIPCD could provide this capability. To add this feature to the 'wish list' you should run it through your local INNUA chapter as Nortel uses them as a sounding board for feature enhancements. There are specialized SIGs that provide a valuable liaison between the customer and PLM.

As for disconnect supervision, I'll expand on what johnpoole stated there.

If you in fact transfer a call to 911, the PBX is holding the inbound trunk to you and the outbound trunk to the PSAP together in a conference. Only if the PSAP is using CAMA trunks on their side with they have disconnect supervision control and abandoned call treatment. If they did, and most today still due except in the larger metropolitan areas, when the caller hung up, they would disconnect to your PBX, but the trunk connection may still hold between your switch and the PSAP. This is only true for NON-PRI on your PBX side, such as a POTS line. If you route out to 911 via PRI, chances are the disconnect prevention will not work.

IP phones create another problem, but can easily be addressed by the phone itself. If the phone is 911 aware and knows the user places a 911 call, if the user tries to hangup, the phone itself can ignore the RLS key, or if the user places the handset in the cradle, it can activate the speaker-phone, still ignoring the RLS key.

As usual, there are many ways to skin the cat!
