Hi All

Does anyone know if you can "break" the rule of having more than 16 BLF appearances of a device?

I see somewhere people have talked about 32 but sure how?

I believe it is 16 local and 16 Remote for a total of 32.

If the system is standalone then 32 is the limit.

I double checked my facts and here is what I found.

The Tech Handbook says that, by default, a system can have a maximum of 439 Busy Lamp GROUPS. This means that you can only monitor 439 stations. It also says that each of the 439 groups can contain a MAXIMUM of 16 members within the group. This means that only 16 members can have an appearance of the same BLF. Hope that helps clears it up.

I can't believe I am suggesting this, but if your site requires that more than 16 stations see a BLF appearance, then you may want to consider Your Assistant. In a nutshell, YA provides presence indication of Your Assistant users via YA client software that is installed on the desktop PC of each YA user. The client software interacts with your Mitel IP phone. The YA client will show when other YA user's phone are busy, ringing, or idle.

That being said, YA does not really have a favorable reputation with many technicians or earlier customers of the product. The earlier versions were VERY problematic. While most issues have been addressed, it still has a bad taste to many techs. Marketing and Sales absolutely love the product because it is an add-on product (GRAVY!!!)

Nowhere in this thread have I seen anyone mention the platform.32 is the limit on the 2K provided that's how many key appearances the system was licensed for in the MOSS sheet. If it's not optioned for 32 (and it's a 2K) then 16 is the default limit.

32 on a 3300 standalone should be the default. And as paterson says, watch the body count of the total BLF-monitored extensions.

Since this is a resource item I wonder if there's a change or increase in the MCD platform?

The 3300 Is Restricted to 16 Key Appearances of any other number (As a Busy Lamp). Also the system is limited to 439 groups by default, so you need to keep an eye on this as well. This means that only 439 people can have a BLF of someone else. An Odd limitation for a 1400 user controller I think. You can flex dim the system and lift this up to whatever you may need. I have been doing it up to 1400 as this should be ample. I needed the 16 keys lifted for a few customers we have but Mitel say it's not going to happen in the short term.
