My computer is running in turtle speeding, nothing would run. I found the msblaster.exe in the registry. I deleted it and installed all the MS patches + SP4. I ran the Norton made removal kit, it found nothing. I ran my Mcafee virus scan (with the lastest update), it didn't find anything either. I can't go to my winnt/system32 folder.
What else should i do?

Thanks.

I too seem to have contracted the blaster worm. The symptoms are a repeated svchost.exe error message, followed by error messages about Office Assistant. I can't link between any documents or applications, or click on Internet links in emails. Excel seems particularly affected.

My added problem is that when I try to use the MS patch and the Symantec removal tool, they tell me I don't have a good enough level of Service Pack. So I tried downloading SP4 last night, and my Internet link kept hanging. Now I'm told I may have to wait 2-3 weeks for SP 4 on CD. So what can I do in the meantime. My PC is my livelihood.

Any advice gratefully received, especially if this could be directly to sue.norris@wanadoo.fr

I'm a Windows 2000 PC user (home use).

Many thanks!

Sue

As bostonfrog said above, try that what he saying, and if you have again problem then its better to format and clean install again, and then don't download any attached and un-necesary programmes. I am not using any antivirus proggrame, and i never have problem like this. Because i never open any unknown file from any person and i never download or install un-necesary softwares.

Knowledge is a key of success.
