Hi, I've encountered an odd issue I've never seen before, and I'm hoping that someone here has a solution...

This issue is that when clicking directly on files (ie Word, Excel, PDF) from explorer or the desktop it hour-glasses for 45 seconds to a minute before starting to open the file. If I open the application first, and then open the file within the app, it opens right away. Another odd thing is that if I disconnect the network, the issue goes away, and the files open fine. I've tried it under two separate profiles, one of which doesn't even have any mapped network drives. I've also tried it as an admin and as a regular user.
Virus scan didn't find any viruses on the system.

Someone described the exact same issue on experts-exchange.com, but they require you to pay for an account to see the solution. I'm hoping it's a common enough issue that some of the experts here may have run across it. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance,
Paul

You can view one of their pages, but after that, you need to register (I think it's by IP or cookies). But...

Psst, using google's cached pages feature, you can read them all, regardless.

Carlsberg don't run I.T departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.

If you open up Windows Explorer, click Tools and go to the View tab, is Automatically search for network folders and printers checked off? If so, then uncheck it and see if that helps.
