I have a PRI card provisioned as T1 in an IP500v2; 2 T1 channels (set as E&M Tie - Wink/Wink) connect via crossover cable to the fax server. My inbound routing is fine - DID numbers coming in over a separate PRI are routed to a system short codes which dial the 4 digit fax ID number over the IPO-to-Fax Server T1.

The problem is faxing outbound from the client. The fax needs to come into the IP Office over the 2-channel T1 and then route out over the regular PRI. I am having a hard time with provisioning the incoming call route for this purpose. Incoming group is Line Group 3. I currently have the destination field left blank. Incoming digits on this T1 are set to 0. System status shows the fax attempts coming in over the T1, but not further going out over the PRI to complete the fax call.

Any experience out there with this product?

Use line shortcodes on those T1 's attached to the fax server, don't use incoming call routes :)

The outbound attempt comes in via Incoming Call Route (group 3) w/ Destination 1699; 1699 is a system short code:

The outbound fax via this method does grab an outbound PRI channel, but only passes the digits 1699. I've tried every combination of short code (mainly in the Telephone Number field) but cannot get the fax to route out of the PRI.

The above short code is the closest I've gotten to "loop" the fax attempt - inbound over this 2-channel T1 and immediately outbound over PRI. Am. Going. Mad.

With that code it will only send 1699 as that's all you have told it to. Does the fax server dial any prefix? What does the fax server actually dial, where does this 1699 come from to match this shortcode? :)

Ah, I see what's happening, I think this need to be set as Qsig, does the fax server support that? Then you can use line shortcodes, I don't see how you can do it with Incoming call routes :)

In SSA routing digits show the full 9+number (fax server is inserting a 9 prefix). So, the routing digits appear OK. It is the dialed digits that only show 1699, hence, the failure of the call I believe.

The 1699 is coming from the destination I have set for this Line Group (the 2-channel T1 connecting IPO to Fax server). Purely an arbitrary number, could be anything I suppose. Just not sure how to get the digits to pass through to allow for an outbound attempt the PRI will process...

The issue is the IP Office is viewing the link to the fax server as a normal external trunk, it needs to see it as in internal trunk (such as Qsig) for it to do call routing against digits received :)

Try this, if the fax server dialled 9123456 then:

Incoming call route
Line Gp 3
Incoming number 9XXXXXX
Destination # (this will strip the 9 and dial the digits as received)

or

Destination . (this will include the 9 in dialling)

I have had to do the 9xxxxxxxxxx before to get calls to route from 1 T1 to another on the IPO> even worked on SIP trunk to SIP trunk set ups. it may give an error in manager for it.
