Hello!

My school system received about 10 donated laptops which all have password on the BIOS and currently it will not load win 98 (Currently on OS)

What would you suggest me trying?

Thanks!

Lift the keypad and remove the large battery. Depending on what the laptops are, you should find a couple of small batteries that have a wire with a small plug. Look for them under the floppy drive which pulls out. Leave them out for a minute or so then replace everything.

What Brand are the computers...in some cases you can pull the battery overnight and it still asks fir the password.

There are some laptops where you cannot see the battery necause it is not placed under the keyboard. Some of these have a set of 3 jumpers where the ram is, short pins 1-2 and that should clear it. I have also heard of some putting a reset under the plastic bezel near where the power switch is.

Usually motherboards have a JUmper to reset the BIOS to its Default (without password). If you find it, reset it for a reset it for some seconds..and then put it back..and turn on the PC. A+, MCP, CCNA
