It's one of those situations where I have 90% sure of what i was doing - only to find out i was wrong!

After entering my bios password on a friends hp Omnibook 6100 he asked me to change it. So I went into the Bios setup and changed the password so that it was just empty, by just hitting the return key on the enter new password section and then i just hit return to confirm it.

On restarting however I still get asked for a bios password and when I hit return it doesn't accept it! Please help!!

You need to reset the system board BIOS: this will clear out the password and set the BIOS settings back to default.

Thanks for your reply tf1 but I am sure these laptops have a seperate security chip on them. I have the hash code for the laptop, which ,if you contact HP, they can give you a password that will unlock it.

Unfortunately I need proof of ownership and I bought this second hand from a guy in London. The hash code is 08958, so if anyone knows the default passwords I would be so pleased.

You probably won't get help with that on this site. It's not policy here to help with crack codes.

Thanks Franklin97355, I'm new to this game so please excuse me.
