Can't explain.

I have configured the dial-up account correctly with the save password feature enabled.

After Norton NIS install when trying to logon via IE and Outlook the password is replaced with a new 16 digit (unknown because of **************** field entry) thus resulting in a logon error to the dial-up network.

What am I doing wrong - have consulted Symantec and the ISP provider and have been told it is a problem with XP - all current windows updates have been installed.

Thanks very much in advance.

D.

Not sure, there are password issues with XP but your issue does not strike me immediately as one of them. It sounds more like a corrupted password store.

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Dial-Up Networking.
Click the phone book entry for your ISP in the Phonebook Entry To Dial box.
Click More, and then click Edit Entry And Modem Properties.
Click the Security tab, click Unsave Password, and then click OK.

Report back if the issue occurs a second time.

See if these help you.

Same on my XP if not using Admin login. I gave up and finally just checked the box that says to save the blah, blah, for Me only and I still put my password in.(safer in a house with grandkids). Sis says it has something to do with the original comp description I gave and the password I gave to the Admin rights...??...the hidden password on mine is about the same length as what you typed.
