FYI: If you're having problems running BIDS/SSMS on a computer with Analysis Services installed, this might be the reason why:

Translation of acronyms. This is all SQL Server 2005 related. BIDS is Business Intelligence Design Studio and SSMS is SQL Server Management Studio.
