I've searched the forums but have been unable to find ideas or code on the best way to limit the number of users accessing a database. The database is split with back-end networked tables. The organization does not want to use the Access security model just limit say three concurrent users.

Ideas?

Walt - there's probably no EASY way to do this, if you don't use Access Security. But, if you can CONTROL the entry and exit of the system pretty completely, you could use an autoexec macro to pop a value into a table, and if there are more than three, kick the user back out (gracefully, I suppose). Each time the database is opened, the table gets updated. Each time the database is closed, you remove one value (before you leave, obviously).

It's not foolproof (what is??) but it would serve your purpose.
