Hi.

I'm looking to buy a VB book, more just for a reference.
I believe I am an intermediate VB programmer.

I woulld like to have something to kinda act as what tek-tips does...serving as a reference for basically each and every command, almost as what MSDN does, but a nice book, any ideas?

There are the standard MS VB reference books which, in my humble opinion, are garbage. The indexing and organisation are appalling and better to use MSDN.

Sorry - just recommending ones to avoid!

Are there particular reasons why you want hard copy? I set off in your direction originally but now use virtually 100% on-line resources. For pure reference of the type you describe, and with the likes of this forum to back it up, I've found no need for anything else.

I will be working offline a great deal of time, and I want to use this book to look up an object/control/function and get info on how to use it, without using the net

See Programming Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 by Francesco Balena.

It is reasonably comprehensive.

Good luck.

I second thornmastr. The book is an excellent reference to have. [spin]

In all honesty, Tek-tips is the best reference book you're going to find.

I bought VB6 Complete by Sybex...useful for $20...but there is so much it lacks.

Tek-tips and ExpertsExchange are thee places to go if you want help with VB6.

Hands down.

The Waite Group's Visual Basic 6 Superbible very good reference book.

I have to agree Francesco Belena book is an excellent source of information.
In addition, 1001 Visual Basic Programmer’s tips 2nd Edition by Ted Coombs.
Also, Visual Basic Algorithms 2nd Edition by Rod Stephens.

Happy reading!!!

You can read my review of Mr. Belena's book here.

I've found 'Visual Basic Controls in a Nutshell' from O'Reilly by Evan S. Dictor ISBN 1-56592-294-8 very helpful
