I'm putting together a new very high end machine, and I want to use high quality signal cables.

I will need a number of rounded (2 connector) IDE ATA/133 cables for optical drives, and a rounded floppy drive cable.

I'll also need 4 SATA drive cables.

The marketplace out there is loaded with many offerings. But there's no way to tell whose cables are quality, and whose are not. High prices don't always mean best quality.

And, I don't want ridiculously overpriced cables such as made by Monster Cable. I want high quality at "reasonable" pricing.

Any suggestions re whose cables I should consider?

Might have to look around how long do you want them? Someties the drives are night next to the plugs and 10" will do. Shorter can be better for speed. I have no idea how to test something like this or if anyone has tested the cables.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

The quality of the cables is not really related to their length. I don't expect that anyone on this forum would have "tested" the cables. But, the workmanship and reliability, and quality of materials is what I'm looking to find out.

Most round cables are made for the "my computer looks better than yours" type of guy. If you are looking for quality stick with the flat cables.

Thermaltake and Coolmax seem to be up there on the name brand list.

I don't think there are any major differences between brands that I've seen, except for maybe durability. But even then, they're so cheap that I wouldn't worry about it too much. Measuring the quality is like trying to compare Sony to Panasonic - it boils down to preference.
