Hi, I currently have just a small network (no less then 3 computers) running on my network and am currently just using workgroups. I do have a webserver running off one of the computers however.

I was wondering if it would be a huge benefit for me to install 2003 server? If so what do some of you people find as the major advantages?

For 3 computer, I would not say yes.
Unless you have a huge dataflow, mailserver, webserver and need some extra security, (and troubles), don't do it.
A server that size controlling your network and PC's demands a lot more work the just sharing a workgroup.
If you would do it, be prepared!

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

Is your webserver accessible to the public? The extra security in Win2003 IIS6 (particularly with regard to a locked-down config by default) is the only reason I can think of for you to upgrade.

Yeah I actually have a webserver set up hosting my website which is running ASP pages.

Then the web server edition may be better suited to your needs, leaving the rest of the network as it is.

Less hassle plus the added security.

Unfortunately the Webserver version of 2003 is only available to Select/Open M$ customers (AFAIK), and it doesn't sound like you've got a licensing agreement in place, so it'll be tough to get.

I do not encourage this, but I doubt he's going to pay a couple of hundred dollars to install Win2k3 on his HOME server...

I doubt it too, but my posts to this board assume that everyone is doing everything the legally proper way. :)
