Hello,

This is no big deal, just annoying. I am working on a form and every time I close out of it or run it, it prompts me if I want to save the changes even though no changes have been made. In the forms tab of the options dialog box I unchecked the "prompt to save changes before running" box. This way it doesn't prompt me when running, but does when I'm closing. This behavior does not occur with any other form and it just started with this one in the last couple of days. I must have done something to trigger this but I have no idea what it could be. Anyone know what causes this?

TIA,

Steve

Steve,

I agree that this could be annoying.

In general, you will only be prompted to save changes if you actually changed anything. That doesn't just mean editing your code or altering settings in the properties window. If you resize the form, or even move it around within the form designer (assuming AutoCenter is .F.), that will constitute a change, and you will see the prompt.

Try opening a form, moving in a tiny amount, and closing it. Then open the form again, but this time, close it without moving it. You'll see what I'm getting at.

Steve, Mike,
I've actually got a form with an animated GIF in an Image control, and it asks to save changes when I close even if I've done nothing! (VFP 8.0 SP1) It must be that since the image display is changing, that's enough to trigger VFP to believe there is something to change.

Well spotted, Dave. It's amazing what you can stumble over these days.

I see that the behaviour described in the article only applies up to VFP 6.0. Presumambly, they fixed it in 7.0.

Thanks Dave,

That is exactly what the problem is. The behavior began after I added a combo box to a pageframe in 6.0. Although it's not a solution, you pin-pointed the problem so I'll give you a star.
